Course information

Registrations for this course are closed.

A hands on course aimed at improving skills in powerboat handling, basic engine troubleshooting, on the water safety, safe boat launching, high and slow speed operation of powerboats, safe docking and leaving docks, safe tying up strategies at those docks,  as well as general water safety with some navigation thrown in. We will be using the club safety boats; a 4 m RIB (rigid inflatable boat) and a 6 m RIB.

You will find yourself more capable of being in charge of a powerboat, delivering it to and taking it from the water on a trailer, have a greater understanding of propulsion systems and their maintenance and will be able to manouevre safely around people in the water, as well as dock and depart safely from a pontoon or another boat. Certainly you will be a much safer operator around people in the water.

At this time, this is not a MAST Boatwise course and licence, it is an Australian Sailing qualification, necessary for safety boat oeprators and instructors. We intend to apply to MAST to be able to deliver boat licence courses as well.
